A Time For Me…

Parents today have become increasingly busier with hectic family schedules. There just never seems to be enough hours in the day. There are school meetings, dance classes, soccer games, and helping with homework to name just a few. As parents, we've been accustomed to always "being on the go." We've adjusted our schedules so that we can shuttle the kids to school, practices, and the mall. All too often we tend to overlook the importance of really taking care of ourselves. While we need to make our physical health a top priority, we must also consider our mental health as equally important. Most of us already know how to keep our bodies healthy through proper nutrition, a balanced diet, and regular exercise. But how can we keep our mind just as healthy? We know that by limiting our caloric intake, helps with weight loss. Think of your busiest day of the week. A day perhaps you've crammed in all your last minute errands and running. You are now completely exhausted, probably both physically and mentally. Think of those extra activities as extra "calories." By limiting those extra activities, you can reduce the amount of stress on your mental health. To "overbook" means to "overlook." Take time each week and really decide which activities or errands are a necessity and which ones could be eliminated. What would you do with an extra 10 or 15 minutes each day? What is something you've put off for so long because you "just didn't get around to doing it?" Maybe you need to call an old friend just to say "hi." Or what about all those loose pictures you haven't placed in an album yet? With these extra minutes each day, don't feel like you have to do anything at all! It's imperative that you do something for yourself, by yourself. Declutter your mind and don't think for one minute that you're being selfish. You owe it to yourself to have "me" time!

Always Mom
You were my fairy tale princess, So much larger than life. You were my angel and my witness Through all my pain and strife.
At times you made me angry, Great words I would proclaim How someday you'd be sorry. You were the one to blame.
But when I needed comforting You always found the time. Your words were more soothing Than days of childhood sublime.
Now the distance holds us apart, The boundaries have no end. I'll hold the memories in my heart. You're my mother, my best friend

You Know You're A Mom When
Your feet stick to the kitchen floor..... and you don't care.
&
When the kids are fighting, you threaten to lock them in a room together and not let them out until someone's bleeding.
More of this funny...

Dear Moms,
While your parents may have handled situations one way, you have the opportunity to create new methods for dealing with specific issues. Don’t be afraid to try. There isn’t any advice in any book that can override your own instinctual feelings. Rely on them; trust them, and you’ll be just fine. Parenting is a learning process you need to experience on a daily basis. Your strength will guide you into becoming a wonderful parent. Listen to your inner voice; it’s all you need.
